We got brother and sister as puppies many years ago. Many said you should never take on real siblings but we had absolutely no problem with them. They were best friends and wonderful part of the family. Sadly we lost our girl last year very suddenly. Her brother has been beside himself since. The only word I can use to describe it is depression. We thought about getting another dog but we are all getting on so we didn’t feel that was the right thing to do. My old female dog started to show signs of old age and declining cognitive function some months ago. I love my old dog more than I can say and it breaks my heart seeing her deal with all the issues that follow old age. Few months ago, blood work at the Vet showed that my old dog had elevated liver enzymes. The Vet wanted to put him on prescription medication, but we wanted first to try a natural way to deal with this.
